Getting into the Indian racing scene may seem like a difficult task; however it simply isn’t. It is a rather simple process, and it is as follows-
1. Go to a local karting track and drive around for a bit
2. Learn the basics of racing in terms of race craft (breaking, racing line, acceleration) on track as well as through this blog.
3. Get to know the staff and ask them if they could help you get in contact with a Rotax team that races in the National Rotax Max Karting Championship. Alternatively, you could look for teams yourself such as Peregrine, Momentum Motorsports, Birel Art, MSport (Meco Motorsport), etc.
4. Go for a ‘testing session’ and see if it fits your budget, if you like it, and if you want to take the risk. If all of those three criteria are a yes, then invest in some racing gear (will elaborate on acquirement of gear, but go with what your team recommends incase advice clashes) as well as a FMSCI karting license (ask team for guidance for both) and let them know you are interested in continuing your journey with them (you could change teams, I started with Leapfrog racing and switched to Peregrine).
That’s about it, you now have a team that will support you for the rest of your Rotax journey and who will advise you for your your future, however I will still go over the same.
