Buying your Gear

Racing gear can be a pretty expensive affair and one that you definitely do NOT want to get wrong, so I will make sure you know exactly how to go about it. Most Indian drivers including me use a UK based company called DemonTweeks in order to import our racing gear (https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/). When you buy your first set of racing gear, try not to exceed 2 lacks before tax/custom duties, and remember that there may be custom duties anywhere from 50% to 200% on your order. Some teams guide you through what to buy, but here is a little guide on the same alongside what products I recommend (Make sure all gear is FIA certified)-

· Helmet- I recommend the Bell KC 7 helmet
· Gloves- I recommend the Sparco Arrow K Kart Gloves
· Shoes- I recommend the Sparco K-Pole Kart Boots
· Rib Protector- I recommend the OMP KS-1 Pro Rib Protector
· Neck Brace- I recommend the Sparco K Ring Kart Neck Support Collar
· Balaclava- I recommend the Alpinestars Ride Tech V2 Summer Balaclava
· Racing Suit- I recommend the OMP KS-3 Kart Suit
· Rain Cover for Suit- I recommend the OMP Rain K Kart Over Suit
· Visor Tear off’s for Helmet- I recommend the Bell Visor Tear offs for the 7 series helmets (depends on which helmet you buy, this one matches the suggested helmet)
· Tinted Visor for Helmet- I recommend the Bell Replacement Visor For KC7-CMR Helmet
· Trolly- I recommend the Bell Large Trolley Gear Bag
This set costs around 1.7 lakhs before custom duties, it is a very solid set for any karting driver! Make sure to make adjustments according to your own budget/requirements. I made the mistake of overdoing it on my helmet and going for the Bell Rs7 which is a car
racing helmet and that was a lot more than what I would require.
